Membership is comprised of the senior materials management executive from each member organization.
Purpose The role of materials manager has evolved and so has the Council's materials management committee structure. The Materials Management Executive Committee was created in recent years to provide oversight and direction to Council's Group Purchasing Program (Click here to go to contract list). Today these efforts are accomplished mostly through specialty Council committees and workgroups that address areas including medical infectious waste, solid waste, food service, utilities, limited English proficiency and minority supplier development.
Materials Management Executive Committee meets several times a year and their strategic focus includes:
- Identifying cost savings contracts and quality improvement initiatives in specialty/niche areas that are better negotiated regionally vs. nationally.
- Providing a forum and resource center to address community issues that relate to materials management. Examples include initiatives to increase usage of minority business enterprises (MBE's) and the development of language services contracts to enhance communication with non-English speaking patients.
- Seeking collaborative opportunities to enhance the professional development of materials management department staff through education, networking, and sharing best practices.
