Healthy Hospital Initiative
The Health Council, in cooperation with the Health Alliance, Mercy Health Partners and TriHealth, is calling on hospitals, physicians, insurance providers and employers to work together to protect Greater Cincinnati's health care system.
The sponsoring organizations realize the need for cooperation in providing the quality care we have come to expect and will need in the future. These groups created a set of principles to guide decision-making about our health care future.

We believe in the following principles:

  • Health resources, such as hospitals, nurses and physicians, that are funded competitively with counterpart cities in the region.
  • A health system that is equipped and staffed adequately to meet the needs of our aging and growing population.
  • Operating emergency services at a level to meet the needs of our citizens and that reduce unacceptably high levels of diversions.
  • Making the latest medical advances and technology available in our own community to meet the needs of our citizens.
  • Working collaboratively by bringing key stakeholders together to work on shared solutions, based on agreed-upon data and recognizing community needs.
  • A health system that is recognized for its value and is efficient, effective and accountable to the community.
  • Taking a stand to protect our region’s health care system to ensure it does not deteriorate and continues to meet the needs of our citizens – today and in the future.
