 BECOMING A NURSE EDUCATOR

The Becoming a Nurse Educator program is an initiative to assist local schools with faculty vacancies.

 National Facts:

The American Association of College of Nursing reported that US nursing schools turned away 30,709 qualified applicants in 2007.

A 2007 study by Davis Auerbach estimates the US shortage of nurses will increase to 340,000 by 2020

Tristate Nursing Supply and Demand Study:

  • Faculty vacancy rate of 12% (national is 7.9%)
  • 58% of our faculty are 50 years of older
  • Within 10 years, over 40% of our current nursing faculty is expected to retire.
  • Only 13% are younger than 40 years.
